Black Men Build is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and uplifting Black communities through strategic initiatives, advocacy, and community engagement. Our mission is to create positive and lasting change by addressing the unique challenges faced by Black men and their communities.
Black Men Build is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Development Coordinator. This role will play a crucial part in supporting the lead fundraiser, who is also our national spokesperson, and will work collaboratively with the communications team to track grants, manage deadlines, and write grant proposals.
- Support for National Spokesperson (Lead Fundraiser):
- Collaborate closely with the national spokesperson to track fundraising goals, initiatives, and grant opportunities.
- Assist in coordinating speaking engagements, media appearances, and other activities to enhance fundraising efforts.
- Grant Tracking and Management:
- Research and identify potential grant opportunities aligned with the organization's mission, specifically focusing on initiatives benefiting Black communities.
- Work closely with the national spokesperson to track grant application deadlines, requirements, and reporting obligations.
- Grant Proposal Development:
- Collaborate with the communications team & NSP to write compelling grant proposals that align with the organization's mission and goals.
- Ensure grant proposals highlight the unique contributions of Black Men Build and the impact on Black communities.
- Donor Engagement:
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and supporters, ensuring a positive and culturally sensitive engagement experience.
- Work with the communications team to develop targeted messaging and materials for donor outreach, emphasizing the impact on Black communities.
- Fundraising Campaigns:
- Support the national spokesperson in planning and executing fundraising campaigns, aligning messaging with campaign goals.
- Coordinate with the communications team to ensure cohesive promotional materials and messaging.
- Event Coordination:
- Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events, ensuring cultural relevance and coordination with the communications team for promotional materials and messaging.
- Coordinate logistics for donor and stakeholder engagement events.
- Database Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records and communication preferences in the organization's database, ensuring respect for privacy and data security.
- Generate reports and analytics to track fundraising progress and donor engagement, with a focus on community impact.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
- Proven experience in donor relations, fundraising, or development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with cultural sensitivity.
